Softbox
Softbox in the photo studio Softboxes are indispensable in modern photo studios. They belong on every studio flash when it comes to illuminating a setevenly. They reduce unwanted light scattering, create soft flash lightand reduce harsh shadows. Various sizes, shapes and attachments for your individual lighting effect How does a softbox create soft flash light? Two factors are decisive. The first is the design, the second is the size. The flash light, which is reflected and diffused in a colour-neutral way by the silver inner coating, reaches the subject directly or passes through diffusers (thin, translucent shades) on its way. The inner diffuser is located inside the softbox, while the outer or front diffuser covers its opening. Both have the task of diffusing the light emitted by the flash and reducing reflections on the subject. As a general rule, the larger the front surface of the softbox, the softer, more even and harmonious the light. Rectangular, octagonal, as a surface light or as an umbrella - the shape of the softbox determines the „shape“ of the light. Square softboxes ensure even illumination in vertical and horizontal directions. The more „rectangular“ a softbox is, the narrower the cone of light. Striplights with a side ratio of 1:3, 1:4 or larger provide extremely focussed light in one direction. Octagonal, double-sided or hexagonal umbrella softboxes have a uniformly orientated, round cone of light. Honeycombs (grids), net-like attachments for the softbox, provide additional control over the flash light. It falls through a kind of grid that only allows light with a small scattering angle to pass through. The flash light retains its soft characteristics and at the same time hits the subject more precisely. Many softboxes are equipped with a honeycomb attachment as standard or can be retrofitted with a separately available grid. With the Bowens S-type bayonet, the light shapers from our range fit on Jinbei and Godox studio flashes, as well as on all studio flashes from other manufacturers that are equipped with this bayonet.
