Light shaper studio equipment
Light shapers are an essential tool for professional photographers. They are an integral part of studio equipment, whether for portrait shots, wedding photos, fashion or product shoots. Depending on the subject and theme of the shoot, you can use different types of light shapers for different lighting effects with your studio flash.
The classic reflector as a standard light shaper
The reflector, a simple light shaper variant, directs the flash light towards the centre and illuminates the subject with accentuated light. Due to its high-contrast light, shadows tend to be harder. Depending on the type of light shaper, the standard reflector provides a narrowly focussed highlight or the wide-angle reflector provides a wider beam of light. The background reflector produces a slightly oval beam of light for flashing the background in portrait shots.
The Beauty Dish is the light shaper star in professional photography
Without the Beauty Dish, nothing would work for beauty, fashion, wedding or portrait shoots. Its light character is somewhere between a standard reflector and a softbox. The Jinbei Beauty Dish reflects the flash light from its silver-coloured reflector walls softly and evenly towards the centre. This creates a small, more strongly illuminated area. This effect is enhanced by the standard honeycomb attachment. It directs the light more towards the centre, darkens the outer areas and makes the subject stand out more from the background.
The foldable beauty dishes for studio flash units are ideal for mobile shoots. Their spring mechanism allows the struts to be quickly clicked into place and set up and taken down quickly.
Special attachments for creative light
Reflector attachments such as the honeycomb attachments or the wing flap gate are mounted directly onto the reflector. Flash attachments such as the Fresnel box or the snoot sit directly on the studio flash. With a snoot, you can create a fixed, pinpoint effect light with soft edges on important subject details such as your model's hair (hair light).
The diffuser ball works the other way round. It distributes the flash light all round a room. Its ivory colour tone softens the light and blurs hard contrast boundaries.
The reflectors, diffuser balls and attachments fit all studio flash units from Jinbei and PHOREX via their Bowens S-type bayonet.
Protective covers for flash tubes and modelling lights make sense
A cover made of safety glass protects the flash tube of the studio flash from damage. At the same time, the protector reduces the risk of burns when changing the reflector if you accidentally get too close to the flash tube.
During transport or storage, a protective cap protects the flash tubes and long modelling lights in flash boxes from dust and scratches. It fits studio flashes and flash heads with Bowens S-type bayonet.
