You're filming with the Luna Ultra in your hand, the sun is high in the sky, and to get smooth motion, you need a shutter speed that's twice your frame rate. At 8K and 30 frames per second, that's 1/60 of a second—and the image will be overexposed. An ND filter reduces the light before it enters the lens. These three attach magnetically, with no screws required.

Magnetic filter change

You hold the camera in one hand and swap the filter with the other. No threads to line up, no misalignment. When the clouds part and you still have the shot, that’s the difference between capturing the moment and missing it.

One filter for both lenses

The Luna Ultra has a wide-angle and a telephoto lens side by side. The filter covers both, so you don’t have to switch anything out when you zoom in on the subject. The exposure stays consistent because the two lenses differ very little in light intensity.

Three levels for the course of the day

ND4 reduces exposure by two f-stops, ND16 by four, and ND64 by six. This covers you from overcast afternoons to midday sun over water, where the light is at its harshest.

Here’s what that looks like in everyday use

8K in full sun

With an ND64 filter attached and a shutter speed set to 1/60, you retain the motion blur that makes a video look natural. Without a filter, you’re limited to a fast shutter speed, and every pan becomes jerky.

Slow motion in 4K120

Here, you’ll set the shutter speed to about 1/240 anyway, which already reduces the light by two stops. Usually, an ND4 is enough; stronger filters force you to increase the ISO.

Switching Between Wide-Angle and Telephoto

You start wide, zoom in with the telephoto lens, and edit the two shots together. Because the same filter is on both lenses, the brightness doesn’t jump at the cut.

What You Should Know Before You Order

These filters only fit the Luna Ultra

The mount is designed for this camera; for other gimbal cameras, you’ll need the appropriate set. The frame is black to match the black model. Technically, the color doesn’t matter, but visually, it stands out on a light-colored housing. If you have the silver Luna Ultra and want a filter that matches its color, please contact us.

No polarizing filter included in the set

This set includes three ND filters, not a CPL. If you want to eliminate reflections on water or glass and enhance color saturation, you’ll also need a polarizing filter. For pure exposure control, the set is complete.

There are two f-stops between each step

You jump two stops from ND4 to ND16, and another two from ND16 to ND64. There are lighting situations that fall exactly in between. In those cases, you can slightly adjust the ISO or tweak the shutter speed a bit. You’ll hardly notice it in the final video, but it’s still good to know.
