Three filters, three different tasks

The variable ND for changing light conditions

Instead of swapping filters every time a cloud rolls by, simply turn the dial to adjust the filter continuously from one to five f-stops. Shutter speed and aperture stay where they should be—you’re just controlling the light. When walking through sun and shade, this is the filter that stays on.

Black Mist 1/4 for a soft look

The Black Mist filter tones down harsh highlights and lets them fade gently. Streetlights, neon signs, and backlit subjects take on a halo instead of a hard edge; contrast and micro-sharpness are slightly reduced. On skin, this creates a calmer effect without making the image blurry.

The CPL for anything with reflections

Water, glass facades, wet leaves: The polarizing filter removes reflections and reveals what lies beneath. It also enhances the saturation of the sky and colors and cuts through haze that flattens landscape shots.

Evening in the city

With a 1/4 Black Mist CPL filter, the city lights take on a halo. What would otherwise appear as a hard spot on the sensor now fades softly. This is the look you’d normally recreate in post-processing—but it rarely looks this natural there.

By the Water

The CPL filter eliminates reflections, so you see the bottom of the water instead of the surface. The sky regains its depth, and greens appear saturated instead of milky.

Sun and shadows in alternation

With the variable ND filter, you’re set for the entire journey. From the forest to the open meadow, you simply turn the dial instead of stopping to switch filters.

What You Should Know Before Ordering

The Black Mist Effect Cannot Be Undone

Whatever you soften with it stays soft. You can restore sharpness and contrast in post-processing, but you can’t completely remove the look. If you’re unsure, shoot the scene without it first, then apply it.

Five f-stops is the upper limit

The variable ND filter goes up to five stops. That’s enough for most situations. In midday sun over water or snow, where the light reflects back twice, you may need a stronger ND filter.

These filters only fit the Luna Ultra
