Regular softboxes are diffuse and soft. Parabolic reflectors are specular and focused. Light bounces off the parabolic mirror bundled–you get direct, shiny light with clear separation. Not for beauty softness, but drama, shine, definition. Film and fashion use parabolic, not regular softboxes.
