Infrared photography or IR photography, as it is called for short, is something fundamentally different in that it takes place outside the spectral range visible to us humans.
Only the sensor in the camera as a tool "translates" the image that is not visible to us into a visible one.
There is not the infrared photography par excellence, but many variations are possible, depending on the filter one uses.
This special infrared filter (also called black filter, because it appears almost opaque to the human eye) is necessary to block out the visible light, because only then an infrared photo is created.

An infrared filter opens the door to creativity. This filter blocks the visible light up to certain spectral range, 720NM, thus for human eyes invisible long-wave radiation is let through. This results in breathtaking photographs.
