You want to expose for half a minute in the middle of the day so the lake turns to glass and the clouds streak across the sky? That takes 10 stops, and that is what the Haida NanoPro Magnetic ND 3.0 in 67mm delivers. It holds magnetically on the adapter ring and snaps on in a second. Please note: this filter ships without an adapter ring. If you do not own one yet, you need to order the ring separately.
- ND 3.0 (1000x): cuts light by 10 stops
- Magnetic mount: snap on instead of screwing in
- Glass just 0.8mm thin, stackable with other Haida magnetic filters
- Scratch-resistant, water- and oil-repellent NanoPro coating
- Supplied without magnetic adapter ring
Long exposures in broad daylight
Ten stops turn fractions of a second into whole seconds
The filter lengthens your exposure time by a factor of 1000. 1/60 s becomes roughly 15 seconds, 1/15 s a good minute. Moving water turns into a smooth surface, clouds draw streaks across the sky and passers-by vanish from a busy square.
Focus first, then add the filter
Through a 10-stop filter you see next to nothing in the viewfinder, and autofocus often hunts. With a screw-in filter that means: filter off, focus, screw it back on and hope nothing shifted. Here you frame and focus while the image is still bright and simply snap the filter on afterwards. The focus ring stays where it is.
Thin glass, tough coating
The glass is only 0.8mm thick, so the filter sits very flat. The NanoPro coating is scratch resistant and repels water and oil. Spray on the shore or a fingerprint wipes off quickly with a microfibre cloth.
Works on smaller lenses too
With a Haida magnetic step-up ring, the 67mm filter also fits lenses with a smaller filter thread, such as 62mm. The step-up ring doubles as the adapter ring, so that lens needs no second ring.
What this looks like in practice
At the lake around midday
The camera is on the tripod and the adapter ring is on the lens. At f/11 and ISO 100 the camera meters 1/60 s and the water is choppy. You focus on the jetty, switch to manual focus and snap on the ND 3.0. Now you expose for around 15 seconds: the waves are gone and the jetty stands sharp above a calm surface. If a cloud moves in front of the sun, you take the filter off, meter again and put it back on.
What you should know before ordering
The adapter ring is not included
The filter has no screw thread and cannot be mounted directly on a lens. You need either the Haida magnetic adapter ring in 67mm or a magnetic step-up ring to 67mm. If you already own a Haida magnetic filter with ring, you have everything you need.
A tripod is a must
With 10 stops you are always shooting in whole seconds, which cannot be handheld. For exposures beyond 30 seconds you also need bulb mode and a remote release with timer. On DSLRs it is worth covering the viewfinder so no light leaks in from behind.
Too strong for soft water with texture
If you only want to blur a stream slightly or you are shooting at dusk, exposure times with 10 stops quickly become impractically long. The magnetic 6-stop ND filter is the better choice there. The two can be stacked, but with every extra filter the risk of darkened corners on wide-angle lenses increases.
The magnet holds, but not against hard knocks
In normal use the filter sits securely. A solid bump against the lens can dislodge it, though. Keep that in mind over water, on a bridge or in a crowd.

The manufacturer Haida specializes in the production of high quality filters for various uses in photography. Haida filters are all made of optical glass. Haida produces filter holders as well as screw filters. The filter holders for plug-in filters are available in the width of 100 mm and 150 mm in our assortment. There are also matching Haida adapter rings in different sizes. Of course, Haid also manufactures ND and GND filters in various dimensions. The Haida ND filters are mainly used in landscape photography. When it comes to coating, the Haida company uses the NanoPro MC designation for multi-coated surfaces, with the NanoPro series being the most current version. Haida systems are available for all sizes of lenses from different manufacturers. The kit Haida M10 II system for 100 mm should not be missing on any photographer's wish list. Haida filters can be used especially well for shooting with water. Haida products do not need to be afraid of comparison with other products such as those from Lee. The ND or gray filters are available in different strengths. So that not too much time is lost in post-processing, the filters from Haid are color-neutral. With the Haida M10 series, you can make perfect long exposures. The corresponding 100 mm graduated filters can be mounted high or low in the filter holder. For ultra-wide angles, Haida also has a corresponding solution in its range, namely the M15 system. With a width of 150 mm, these filters cover a wider angle of view compared to the 100 mm. If such an ultra-wide angle is on your wish list, please be sure to note the Haida M15, there are various adapters for the most diverse combinations. Haida also has rear lens filters, these mount in the lens bayonet and are available in various strengths. Simply put, you can find the right filter for every application in Haida's range. Whether these are then used in the city or in the countryside, it does not matter. The products are also accompanied by brochures or manuals in English that give an overview of the entire range.
