The square design blocks stray light more effectively than round hoods, and the matte, anti-reflective interior absorbs residual light. The optimised design ensures no vignetting when the hood is fitted.

The hood protects against stray light and mechanically, but does not replace a protective filter. To also guard the front lens against dust and moisture, combine it with a suitable filter.
