Does your ball head creep when you lock it down with a heavy lens? The Sunwayfoto XB-52 is a low-profile ball head with a 52 mm ball. It holds heavy bodies and telephoto lenses securely without adding much height. Its Arca-Swiss clamp takes the common quick release plates and L-brackets.

Solid support for heavy gear
Lower centre of gravity
The lock sits on the side of the ball rather than underneath. That keeps the XB-52 low and the camera closer to the tripod, which gives you a steadier setup for long exposures and long lenses.
No sag when you lock it
The elliptical ball adds resistance the further you tilt, so the camera doesn't suddenly drop. The geared locking mechanism provides strong holding power.
Panoramas and portrait orientation
The base pans a full 360° with a scale for evenly overlapping panoramas. Two drop notches let you shoot in portrait orientation or tilt steeply.
What it looks like in practice
Landscape with a tele zoom and L-bracket
You're shooting a mountain range at 100–400 mm with the camera on an L-bracket in the Arca clamp. For a panorama you only rotate the base and follow the scale. To switch to portrait, you flip the L-bracket instead of tilting the head.

No quick release plate included
This unit comes without a quick release plate. You'll need an Arca-Swiss compatible plate or L-bracket for your camera or lens.
Not a lightweight
At 683 g the XB-52 is built for heavy gear. It's on the large side for a small travel tripod.
3/8" mounting thread
The base has a 3/8" thread, which fits most photo tripods directly. Tripods with a 1/4" screw need a suitable adapter.
