The Spider X Backpacker Kit v3 lets you attach it where it won’t get in the way—namely, to your backpack’s shoulder strap or your belt. Switching between the two takes just seconds because the same holster fits both mounts. The kit includes everything you need, including the camera plate.

One holster, two mounting options

On the backpack strap

The backpack adapter attaches to your backpack’s shoulder strap; then you clip the holster onto it. If the shoulder strap is thin, place the included rubber spacer underneath so the adapter fits snugly. You can remove the holster at any time without having to detach the adapter.

On a belt

Remove the holster from the adapter and clip it onto any belt. You don’t need a Spider strap for this—a regular belt will do. If you leave your backpack in the parking lot, you can simply continue carrying the camera on your hip.

The camera plate does more than just hold the camera

The v3 plate is made of CNC-machined aluminum and fits both DSLR and mirrorless cameras. It features multiple tripod threads, a quick-release socket, and a built-in adjustment key, so you don’t have to carry a separate tool. Because it’s designed to the Arca-Swiss standard, you can mount the camera directly onto an Arca-Swiss tripod head without any modifications.

Here’s what it looks like in everyday use

Hiking with photography gear

The backpack is on your back, and the camera hangs from the shoulder strap at chest height. When the light is right, you grab it without taking the backpack off. On the way back, it stays in the Auto-Lock, even when the trail gets steep and rough.

City trip without a backpack

On the second day, the backpack stays at the hotel. The holster goes on your belt, and the plate stays mounted on the camera. You don’t change a thing about your setup, yet you still have both hands free.

From your hip to the tripod

For the blue hour, you pull the camera out of the holster and mount it directly onto the Arca-Swiss head. No plate changes, no tools, no rummaging through your bag. Afterward, it goes back into the holster.

What you should know before ordering

Not compatible with Spider V2

The V3 generation is not compatible with holsters, plates, and pins from the V2 series—and that goes both ways. If you’re already using an older Spider system, you won’t be able to reuse its plates here. Before ordering, check which generation your existing accessories are. If you’re unsure, give us a call—we’ll go over it with you.

The backpack is not included

The kit includes the adapter that attaches to a backpack’s shoulder strap, not the backpack itself. A spacer is included for thin straps. If you have very wide or heavily padded shoulder straps, it’s worth testing before you order: Stop by our store in Langnau am Albis, and we’ll try it out right on your backpack.

A kit for one camera

The Backpacker Kit is designed for one camera. If you work with two camera bodies at the same time, a dual-carry system is the better choice; you’ll find options in the Spider Holster category.
