Aluminum and leather instead of nylon

Brown full-grain leather

The padding between the camera and the holster is made of brown full-grain leather. It’s positioned where the body and lens make contact, preventing the scuff marks that metal-on-metal contact would otherwise leave. Full-grain leather darkens over the years and takes on the shape of how it’s worn, rather than wearing down.

Two modes for two situations

In Quick-Draw mode, you pull the camera out without pausing, without pressing a button, and without looking. In Auto-Lock mode, the pin locks automatically when inserted and can only be released using the lever. The second mode is for stairs, crowded areas, and the walk to your car.

Customized to your hand

The lever can be switched from one side to the other; the Allen wrench for this is stored right in the holster itself. This way, you can carry the camera on the side you use to grip it. The system works the same way with or without the battery grip, and the plate releases the battery door, so you can access the battery and memory card without unscrewing anything.

A long day on your feet

Weddings, events, photojournalism: The camera needs to be within reach for hours on end without you having to hold it. Strapped to your hip, it rests against your body instead of swinging in front of your stomach, leaving both hands free for the flash, opening doors, and everything else.

Between a tripod and handheld

The camera plate is Arca-compatible. You can mount the camera directly onto the tripod head, remove it, and slip it back into the holster without any adjustments. When using long telephoto lenses, the SpiderPro Lens Collar Plate v3 attaches to the lens collar so the weight doesn’t hang from the mount.

What You Should Know Before Ordering

A belt is not included

The most important thing to note about this set: You get the holster with the suspension clip, the camera plate, and the Allen wrench. You provide your own belt; the clip attaches to a standard one. If you’re looking for the complete system, including a padded belt, choose the SpiderPro Single Camera Carrying System v3. This set is designed for anyone who already has a belt or prefers to use their own.

Leather is a natural product

The shade of brown may vary slightly from batch to batch, and it changes with use. If you want multiple Spider parts to look exactly the same, buy them together. If you want a color that stays the same for years, the black version is a better choice.

Not compatible with v2, and the camera sticks out to the side

Older Spider v2 components cannot be combined with v3; for a second camera, you’ll need the SpiderPro Plate v3. And the camera needs space on your hip: In narrow passages, you’re more likely to bump into things, and a backpack’s hip belt sits right where the clip is located. For backpackers, the Spider X Backpacker Kit v3 is the better solution.
