A 70-200mm lens on your hip pulls forward. If you hang a lens like that from the camera plate on the bottom of the body into the holster, the weight shifts, and the entire load hangs from the lens mount. The SpiderPro Lens Collar Plate v3 places the mounting point where it belongs: on the lens’s tripod mount. This ensures the combination hangs at its center of gravity, sits steadily on your hip, and keeps the mount off-load.
- For long telephoto lenses such as a 70-200 mm and larger
- Hangs from the lens tripod foot, not the camera base
- Two pins included: Carry on the left or right side
- Arca-Swiss profile, fits directly onto the tripod head
- Locking screw to prevent slipping
- Hex wrench for assembly included
The mounting point in the right place
Balance instead of leverage
The longer the lens, the further forward the center of gravity shifts. The clamp attaches to the tripod base and thus close to the combination’s center of gravity. The setup sways less, rests more steadily, and puts noticeably less strain on the lens mount than a plate attached to the camera body.
Carry on the left or right
Two spider pins are factory-installed, one on each side. You decide whether to carry the camera on your left or right hip without having to unscrew anything. This is the difference from the standard SpiderPro Plate v3, which you order for one side.
Directly onto the tripod head
The clamp is designed to the Arca-Swiss standard. When you remove the camera from the holster, you can clip it directly onto an Arca-Swiss head without changing plates. A locking screw prevents the plate from slipping through the clamp.
Here’s what it looks like in everyday use
Sports and wildlife with the 70-200
You’re out and about for hours; you want the telephoto lens within reach, but not weighing down on your neck. With the clamp, it hangs balanced at your hip, and you have both hands free until the moment arrives.
Second camera with a long focal length
At a wedding, you carry both a wide-angle and a telephoto lens at the same time. The camera body with the 70-200 fits into the holster via the clamp, instead of taking up space in your bag. Switching between cameras takes just seconds.
From carrying to a tripod
For a fixed shooting position, pull the camera out of the holster and mount it directly onto the Arca-Swiss head using the clamp. No adjustments, no tools.
What you should know before ordering
You’ll need a Spider V3 carrying system
The clamp is the plate, not the entire system. It snaps into a Spider V3 holster, such as the SpiderPro Single Camera Carrying System v3. If you don’t have a Spider system yet, you can find the selection in the Spider Holster Category.
Not compatible with Spider V2
The V3 generation is not compatible with holsters and plates from the V2 series. If you’re already using a SpiderPro V2, you’ll need the corresponding V2-series clamp instead of this one. Check which generation your system is before ordering.
Your lens needs a tripod mount
The clamp screws onto the lens’s tripod mount. Lenses without their own tripod mount do not have this connection. For camera bodies and shorter lenses, use the standard camera plate on the bottom of the body instead.
